Shopping in London



London is the shopping capital of the world, its shopping areas and famous shops makes that visitors are often overwhelmed by the sheer range of goods available in the over 40,000 shops and 83 major street markets. London offers the shopper a great variety of things from large department stores to exclusive boutiques. London’s main shopping areas are in Oxford Street, Covent Garden, and Knightsbridge and also have many street markets to browse around.

The following list shows what’s on offer in the principal shopping areas of London.

Department stores
The most popular department stores are located in Harrods and Harvey Nichols on Knightsbridge, but these stores are mainly concentrated on Oxford Street.

Designer shops
Mainly concentrated on Old/New Bond Street and Sloane Street.

Fashion shops and boutiques
There are many stores on Covent Garden.

Music shops
The mayor number of music shops are located in central London, also you can visit Soho where you will find many music stores.

Bookshops
while large bookstores such as Waterstone's and Borders are well represented all over London, other good bookshops (both large and small) are situated on both the Charing Cross Road and around Covent Garden.

Jewellery
The best places to visit but with expensive items are New Bond Street, another with high concentration of jewelry stores are Hatton Garden, where there are many jewelers offering a staggering array of jewelry pieces.
