Arrival to London

London has five international airports all are less than one hour from the city centre, with quick and easy access into Central London.

Heathrow Airport

Located 12 miles to the West of the City, is London's major airport. Getting into London from Heathrow airport could not be simpler; there are some ways available to do it.
  • Heathrow Express runs direct to Paddington station and takes about 20 minutes making it the quickest option. Tickets cost 12 each-way and trains run from 5.10 hours until 11. 40 hours.
  • The Tube It is considerably cheaper than the Heathrow Express. The Piccadilly line connects directly with all terminals and takes about 40 minutes to get to Central London, passing many stations offering connections to the rest of the tube network. Tickets cost 3.41 way and trains run every few minutes from between 5.00am and 12.00p.m. midnight.
  • The Airbus These buses are outside of the terminals and run to all destinations in London. A1 Airbus departs every 20 to 30 minutes from 5.00a.m.-8.00p.m. it has stops at earls Court, Knightsbridge, Haydn Park, and Victoria bus station. A2 Airbus departs every 20 to 30 minutes from 5.00a.m.-10.00p.m. and goes to Notting Hill Gate, Paddington, Lancaster Gate, Marble Arch, Baker Street Great Portland Street, Euston and Russell Square. The bus journey takes about one hour and costs 6 for a single and 10 for return. If you arrive late at night you can take the N97 night bus which runs hourly to Trafalgar Square taking about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Taxis There is always a good option and will cost you about 35/40 to get into Central London. The journey, can takes from 40 minutes to 90 minutes to arrive to your destination. Be aware with taxis from a tout, the vast majority of them are uninsured.
Gatwick Airport

Gatwick is located for about 30 miles to the south of London and has 24 hour rail service running directly from Victoria Station. The Gatwick Express runs every 15 minutes but from 1.00a.m.-5.00a.m. they run every 30 minutes. The ticket costs 9.50.

Flightline Coaches departs from the North and South terminals directly into Victoria Coach Station. The journey takes about 1 hours, sometimes a bit longer, and depending on the time of day. The journey costs 7.50 for single and 11 for a return ticket.

Stansted airport

The newest London's airport is approximately located at 35 miles North of London, the Stansted Sky Train runs to Liverpool Street Station, in the City of London, takes 45 minutes and the tickets costs 10.40 each way.

Flight Line Coaches departs every hour to Victoria station and stops at Hendon central, Finchley Road and marble arch. Buses run from 6.00a.m.-7.00p.m. with a cost of 9 for a single and 13 for a return.

Luton airport

Luton Airport is located about 30 miles North of London, Thames Link Trains goes to London Bridge, Blackfriars, Farringdon and a kings cross stations. Trains departs from Luton Airport Parkway Station that is connected to the main terminal.

Green Line Coaches goes to Central London to Victoria Coach Station stopping at Baker Street, George Street, Marble Arch, and Hyde Park Corner.

London City Airport

London's City Airport is located about 8 miles South of Central London. A shuttle bus departs every 10 minutes to Canary Wharf and Liverpool Street.
