Museums



The Londonís museums always have much to offer to kids, from museums dedicated to toys until those that show the human history in an interactive and amused way. London is a city where the children can learn and amuse at the same time, many of the places that we mention below have educative events and programs for children.

Museum of Childhood
The national museum of childhood has toy collections, (including dolls, dolls' houses, games and puppets), of international range and importance. Also children's costume, nursery antiques. Also offer children activities at weekends and at holiday.

British Museum
British Museum is one of the great museums of the world, showing the works of man from prehistoric to modern times with collections drawn from the whole world. Famous objects include the Rosetta Stone, sculptures from the Parthenon, the Sutton Hoo and Mildenhall treasures and the Portland Vase.

Imperial War Museum
The Imperial War Museum has a collection of 20th century warfare. Displays include the Blitz and Trench Experiences and the current Women and War exhibition which tells the story of servicewomen, nurses, land girls, factory workers, pilots and peacekeepers.

London's Transport Museum
Show the story of London's famous transport system from 1800 to the present. KidZone has hands-on areas where fun activities help children learn about different aspects of transport. There are regular programmes of events, children's craft workshops and monthly tours of the museum depot.

Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum contains hundreds of exciting, interactive exhibits. The Dinosaur Gallery. The adjoining Darwin Centre allows visitors to meet Museum curators and researchers, to find out about their work.

Royal Air Force Museum
Britain's National Museum of aviation contains 70 full-sized aircraft including a unique collection of British, German and Italian planes. The Museum also offers a flight simulator, 'Touch and Try' Jet Provost Trainer and Sunderland Flying Boat.

Science Museum
One of the mayor tourist attractions of London, the Science Museum holds the most comprehensive collections of science, technology and medicine on the world. Features include a Space Gallery, with Apollo 10 command module, an effects simulator. Launch Pad, the interactive area, is always popular with children.

Theatre Museum
The museum count with five galleries and shows the history of the performing arts in the UK. The collection includes displays on theatre, ballet, dance, circus, puppetry, opera, musicals, rock and pop. Usually offers a daily workshop on performing arts subjects, such as pantomime.
