Getting to Lancaster

By rail
Lancaster is well served with direct trains from London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford and major cities in Scotland. The X1 bus service runs between the Railway Station and the University every 20 minutes Mon - Sat daytimes and hourly on Sunday afternoons and evenings. The journey takes around 15 minutes. Alternatively, frequent services run from Common Garden Street, a few minutes walk away.

By bus
The bus station is situated on Damside Street. Buses (numbers X1, 2, 2A, 3 and 4) leave regularly (every 4 minutes on weekdays) for the 20 minute journey to the University.

By car
Lancaster is easily reached by M6 motorway, at junction 33 you will leave the M6 motorway and take the A6 towards Lancaster.

By air Lancaster is served by Manchester International Airport. To get to Lancaster there are direct rail links from the airport, by road you can take the M56 motorway at junction 5 and join the M6 motorway at junction 20 (north to Preston and Lancaster).

Lancaster is also only a 3 hour train journey from Central London (from Euston Station) on the West Coast Main Line; 2 hours from Birmingham International Airport, 3 hours from Glasgow International Airport.
