Fitzwilliam Museum


The Fitzwilliam Museum founded by the seventh viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion in 1816, is the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge. Located on Trumpington Street receives around 300,000 visitors annually. The Museum is guarded by sculptured lions and boasts a magnificent entrance hall.
The Museum features include antiquities from Egypt, Greece and Rome, oriental art, Korean ceramics, English and European pottery and glass, sculpture, furniture, armour, illuminated manuscripts, coins and medals, Japanese prints, masterpieces of painting and drawing by Domenico Veneziano, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyck, outstanding works by great British artists including Gainsborough, Reynolds, Stubbs and Constable and a fine collection of 20th century art.
